Default INVITATION to all you NEWBIES

Imagine you're on vacation with a bunch of your best buddies. Now, what's one of the "fer sure" things you're going to do? Get together for a CHAT and a few drinks, right?

Yep, you're invited to a newbie chat session and, in honour of the latest CCC accomplishment, let's call it the Dr. Lars Chat Night........Tuesday, February 25th.....9:00pm EST (7:00pm CCC/MST).

There's room for everyone. Grab a cool brew and get ready to have a laugh. If you think reading the humour in some of the daily messages we've been reading for years is good, wait'll you jump into the chat-pool together........but if you decide to go "skinny"......keep it to yourself, okay?

Where? Right here.....in the Solid Axle Lounge - Chat Room.....

Tuesday evening February 25th......9:00pm Eastern
Come one.....come all.....newbies......veterans!

(NOTE: In appreciation for the support of C.A.C. our new host, we'll leave the details of recent events over at the "udder" place at the door.....okay?)

If you plan on participating in the live chat session on Feb. 25th, try accessing the chat room a few days in advance to make sure you have time to sort out any problems you may encounter. The link is in the first post in this thread.
========================================

NOTES on what to expect when entering the Chat Room (taken from http://www.jpilot.com/products/jirc/faq.html#error )

You will be asked to accept a very small Java Applet prior to connecting. It's okay if it comes from JPilot.

What browser do I need?
Netscape 4.08 or above and Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. AOL browser is also supported as it is essentially Internet Explorer. Other browsers probably will fail unless they can bypass the applet security sandbox. (It has been reported that on Mac platform the applet works properly only with IE4.5)

What is that pop up window asking for "permission"?
We sign the applet with Thawte digital certificate to by pass the Java applet sandbox. You can safely say yes to this request. If you don't grant these permissions, the applet will not function properly.

How come I cannot connect?
There are several possibilities.
- You are using a very old version of IE or Netscape on your PC. Only IE4 or above and Netscape 4.08 or above is supported by jIRC applet.
- When the popup window first appears and asks for granting permission, the user denies the request. Without such permission, the applet will not be able to connect to any IRC servers around the world. It can only connect to the host the applet was downloaded from.
- Some IRC servers deny connection from some ISP domains (due to abuse or flooding coming from that domain). For example, some IRC servers do not allow AOL users to connect. And some IRC servers require you to have Identd installed and running on your computer (Identd is included in jIRC, and it is turned on by default).

The Internet Explorer browser allows users to modify its Internet Security Setting, if you are not using the default security setting and have disabled the support of signed applets, jIRC may not work properly. If this is the case, return the IE security setting to the default medium level.

This is a reminder that we hope to see you all (newbies and veterans) in the Solid Axle Lounge Chat Room - Tuesday evening at 9:00 Eastern (7:00pm MST).

The chat room is here... http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/chat.php

Please test your access before Tuesday evening. You'll know you've made it in when you see your username in the narrow column to the right of the chatroom conversation. For instance, mine shows up as cac_67HEAVEN.

Please read higher up in this thread for some info if you have any difficulties accessing the room.

This Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 9:00pm Eastern.
