hi guys,

I'm driving my 81, and when I turn on the wipers I hear what sounds like a spark coming from my battery - I can't see the spark, but it's fairly loud.

Any ideas? It looks like all my electrical wires are fastened tight, and the battery and alternator are both new.

thanks,
Kurt

Possibly a partially broken cable. The ground cable where it exits the battery box on bottom to connect to the frame is a common problem area. Check your batter connections and clean/tighten if needed. Also check to see that the wire has not partially broken inside the cable connector.

Kurt,

This may sound wierd or strange, but with your garage door open to vent the exhaust, start up your car and turn the wipers on, then open the battery compartment and check for the short, look under the car where the ground is connected. You might get lucky and be able to see the short (in a dark garage) ;)

Make sure you don't smell gas or have any other combustables near by..
