Default new wheels

I'd like to go with a lower profile tire, so does anyone know if I can go with a 19"rim? Do you know of any pictures online that I can look at?

Default There is a question about a similar...

subject in the C5 Solutions column of the March Corvette Fever.

It talks about altering rim sizes.

It states there might be problems with the ABS and maybe the speeodometer if the tire diameters are not correct since the systems monitor individual tire speeds to determine if there is a problem. It also states "If the correlation between the front and rear tire speeds are incorrect, the ABS will set codes and become inactive." That doesn't sound too good.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Randy for that insight. I just talked with a guy who runs a Mod shop and he said they tried it and the car didn't look right and it will also limit my choice of tires because of the width. I think I'll be staying with the same size but will probably go with some different style. Keep up the good work over there and be safe!!! Go U.S.A.

You are welcome for the assistance.

I think soon I will be "USAF at an undisclosed location in the Middle East"

Did you see the new Z50 wheels from American Racing? They are absolutely beautiful. Well, at least to me anyway. (Full page ad on pg 5 of March CF) They come in the standard corvette size.

Be careful switching wheel and tire sizes from OEM specs.

The active handling, ABS, and traction control systems are programmed to expect a certain performance and reaction from the tire/wheel combo -- low profile 19" aren't programmed into the GM equation.
