Follow-up to problem

I'd written last week about a problem with the "new" '95. My "Service ASR", "ASR Off", and "Service Engine Soon" lights were coming on about 50% of the time when I started the car. The automatic transmission was also sticking in 1st gear when the lights were on.

After three days in the Chevy dealer's shop (making good use of the extended warranty), they finally found the bug. It's a bad throttle position sensor that was causing everything. They claim that it's the first one that they'd seen go bad.

Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone else runs into the same gremlins.

Another question for the group....

My driver's door is sagging a little, just enough to irk me, since you have to give it a little extra shove to close it. According to the manuals, you need to remove the front fender to get at the door hinge. Has anyone found a way to adjust them without performing the major surgery of fender removal?

Rod,

You have a worn out upper hinge. I have replaced several of them on the C4 over the years. The last one I replaced was on our 90 on the driver side.

I got a can of duplicolor spray paint. I prepped the new hinge with a scotch brite and mineral spirits. Shot a quick coat of dupli color polo green, then raised the hood and unbolted the old one. I supported the door on a jack. I raised it just a micro above level when I put the new one in, then torqued it all down.

Works like a new one now! That was over five years ago.

So there was no need to remove the front fender in order to gain acccess to the hinge and all the mounting bolts, as Chiltons claims?
