Default alarm systems

I have a 2002 C5 and would like to purchase a security alarm better than the factor one. What do you recommend? Viper, Clifford, or another? I bet arm wour vet with the best. The one that comes from the factory is so primative or should I say basic. Thanks, John

I like viper, only because i had one on a 92 I owned. worked well with the factory unit too. had a perimiter(sp?) alarm, got to close it would go off and mercury switch for the hood, impact sensor.......

I have had good results with Viper systems on several cars. I like them.

Nope, but someday.
Default 3 Alarms, stock

Hi there,
Primitive alarm in c5???? Please consider this.
First, PassKey 2 for the ignition system. This is to prevent the vehicle from starting, when the correct key is NOT used. If the signal is NOT received, then the fuel enable signal is not sent to the PCM, and the car will not start.
Then, content theft deterrent, which is the ability of the owner, to lock the car with the power door lock switch, and arm the system. With the windows down, and key with the customer, attempt to open a door, the alarm will sound immediately, and the starter disabled. The only way to disarm, is with the correct key in the door cylinder, or the transmitter.
The only way to steal a c5, is to back a flat bed up to the car, and drag it on.
Also, aftermarket alarm systems will void the warranty on the BCM electrical system, due to wiring the system in.
So please, be cautious, and I recommend against it.
Allthebest, c4c5
