tire pressure Help sensor?

I just bought my first real car! 1998. I bought it knowing that the rear tire(s) readout was not working. Both the right and left do not work. Then I relizied that I have to hit the reset everytime I start the car. I would like to know for sure that the sensors are bad before I buy the new ones. How do I check ! any info will be great!!

I have had the same problem with my 99. I have not added air because the readings are false. It's cold up here and my readings have been between 25-28psi. I've checked them manually and they are at 30psi. I was hoping the warm weather might change things, but I see you are in Florida.

This is the first time on this site (new vette owner and loving every minute, waited 20 years!!!). And I jump in and ask for some help. Then I started to cruz the site, seems that you can "relearn" your sensors with magnets, also seems to be a concern if you have G. Y. non-run flats? also there is the ser. bull. dealing with the sensors and the keyless entry. I will get to the bottom of this in the next few days!! Thanks for your responce

You are correct there is a way to make the sensors relearn. I think you have to go from left rear to left front, to right front and then to right rear otherwise the readings will be off. i think that is the correct procedure, but don't quote me. Someone will be along to let you know the absolutely correct way. You also have to be away from matalic objects as well. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, I think I have found the problem. I found out how to reprogram the sensor with magnets from this site (search wheel sensor). It was simple. I use a magnet that was for cleaning fish tanks! Starting with the right front then the left front, when I got to the right rear,, nothing!! retried three time( the hole process) and the last time skiped right rear and went to the left rear. The horn went off. Now the car reads the right rear (really the left!) So the problem is one bad right rear sensor. This site rocks!!
