Default Electrochromatic mirrors not working correctly, guess what it was?

Thought I would share this, wasn't sure where to put it but figured plenty of exposure in this area.
I noticed that for the past several weeks my mirrors were not dimming down all the time. At first I thought it might be the cold weather, but in the middle of all the cold, we did have some warm days, and they still acted the same. I was getting ready to make an appointment to have them checked.
Two days ago I washed the car, and cleaned the inside of the windows. The backlight was especially filmed because it's so difficult to get in and clean. That evening I noticed that the mirrors were dimming with the slightest light from cars way behind me. Evidently the fog/film on the backlight must have diffused the incoming light so much the light sensors couldn't "see enough" to tell the mirrors to dim. Problem solved.

Unfortunately, the dealer would have had your Vette for about 2 weeks and would have completely rewired it by then........and still wouldn't have found the problem.

Yeah, and all it needed was some TLC and some windex.

Thanks for the info. I guess I better check my mirrors. I don't have this problem, and i want to make sure that I don't.
