Hi, I am having trouble finding a Spark Control Solenoid for my 1971 LT-1. There was an incorrect carborator on the car when I bought it and the correct one is on but we're having a problem locating this part. Any one have any ideas. I have checked some online parts people and a local GM Dealer. I was told it was a GM only part by Zip Products.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Here I am following up my own thread. A GM parts dealer told me that the part is available for both a 70 and 72 LT-1. Would any one of you know if it could be used on the 71? I wouldn't think it could.

Hi Dave,
I'm confused on this too. I'm looking in a Sept '75 Corvette parts book and they don't list a solonoid for the '71 either. Just the '70 and '72. They are different numbers btw.I will have to check futher tomorrow to see if I can come up with a '71 emmissions illustration. I also have a '72 parts book in the archives I could dig out.

Well I can't find an illustration of the system in any of my old parts books. Still can't find a listing for a '71 solenoid either. Maybe it was a combination solenoid with the idle sol or something. Does your car still have the emmisions vacuun hose routing decal on it? If so does it shouw a spark control solonoid?
I don't recall these ever being offered by the aftermarket and finding a new one will be tough. I think you are going to have to find another '71 4 speed owner with all this stuff in place to see just what it looks like ect.

Tom the car is at my mechanics, but I don't remember seeing the decal. He has some ideas on how to work without the valve. I was wondering if any LT-1 owners in the forum could take time to look at their configuration and let me know what they've got.

Dave,
If you are not trying to put all of this stuff back on for NCRS judging I wouldn't worry about it. The TSC solenoid was operated by a transmission switch that opened the the vacuum port to the distributor only in 4th gear. They were commonly bypassed when these cars were new. You don't really need it.

Thanks, Tom, that was what I was hoping to find out.
