Roller Rocker & Roller lifter brands of choice

I have read in some of the mags aobut roller failure with regard to the needle bearings, so, are there any particluar brands to stay away from?

Are the Pro Magnums the roller rocker of choice?

What about the vertical retro Roller Lifters?

They are lighter, and have never given me one problem on many engines that I have used them......

...as for lifters I'm running a set of Sealed Power.

CompCams Pro magnums get my vote. As far as the weight difference vs aluminum, you need to read some of Comp's data on this point, showing the actual weight that the spring/pushrod sees is less.

Af far as hydraulic roller lifters, stick strickly with the big boys; CompCams, Crane, etc.

When I comes to mechanical roller lifters, Isky says they are hard to live with on a street engine, especially with fast ramp cams. the cure, they say, is to use a rev kit.

Using the kit keeps the roller from crashing into the camshaft lobe and over-stressing the bearings.

I have comp cams retro fit roller lifters. I have used them for over 2 years and they are all just fine. I think the lifter bore needs to be machined for proper retro lifter fit.

Comp Pro Magnum rocker arms get my vote too...or you can go harlan sharp.

Comp Pro Magnums are excellent rockers. Crower aluminum's are also good. The Comps are actually lighter at the valve than aluminum rockers.

Some blocks that are bored off center at the factory may need to be modified but I've never come across one in any of the BBs I use to build for several drag racing teams or in the few SBs I've built.

When I rebuilt my stock 350 (.030 over) I opted for a ZZ9 hydraulic roller and TPIS' lifters. No problem with the fit.
Pushrod length is another matter tho.

The when I pulled it and built the 415 I reused the same lifters, but went with a custom ground CompCams roller and, again, the lifters fit fine.

Right now I'm building a 434 for a friend who's looking for 700 HP on nuts and we're using a GM Bow-Tie block. Isky lifters fit the bore fine, but that block/head combo does call for much taller and off-set ones. Getting the pushrods to run straight has been a nightmare too; due to the 15 degree heads.

Just my experience.
