Default Center Console Switch Issue

Hey guys!!

Finally Back stateside and I am so glad to be home. Although the weather in Cuba was nice, it sure is good to be on US soil again and in the driver seat of my Vette. I have been enjoying it so much. It is in great shape cept for a few cosmetic issues that are going to be handled this spring and summer. I do have one tiny issue that popped up yesterday. The trip odometer-mileage switch on the center console became loose. The switch moves freely without turning on the trip odometer or remaining fuel mileage. Although, when i push the switch, the connection is made and the gauge will light up for a brief moment but will not stay lit after I take my hand off the switch, so I know its not an electrical issue, just a switch issue. Looked in my Ecklers catalog for replacement switches but didn't see any. I am tempted to take off the center console, take a look see and see if it just came off the hinges so to speak or actually broke a bit. Any guidance would be great from you guys.!!!!

Hope everyone had a great Holiday and new Year!!!

Johnny D.

Didn't see it....its the toggle type switch inside. Is taking off that panel a pretty easy thing?

If you give me 20 minutes I will get you a pic of what you are getting into and how changing just the switch is nearly imposable. To make it clear ...you are looking at the switches on the information center above the radio and below the AC vents...correct?

Jon,

that is exactly what is messed up......so the entire panel has to be taken out...in addition..the dash went blank today too. Although the guages work...i can still see them barely...but no green and yellow backing lights.....i think there is a thread about it but can't remember its location...changing the bulbs...is it a major electrical issue or a weekend project. Thanks again for you help with this...

But what I am suggesting is that whole black panel with all the wires seems to be one big switch.
