Shifter Backwards?
Is it possible to put a 6-speed shifter on backwards? I have no reverse lockout on my 94. After taking apart the console and looking at the shifter it appears to be on backwards compared to what the manual shows. The "lockout bar"? at the base of the shifter isn't hitting the metal piece that prevents it from going to the right because of this position. It appears that if it was turned 180 degrees that it would work perfectly So is it possible to remove the shifter thru the console area without dropping the tranny out? If so how? Any ideas? Thanks Zane(ZAL81)

Do 1994's have a lockout? I thought 94-96 had no lockout, all you have to do is push the shifter over a bit harder to get it into reverse.... or, am I just mis-understanding the question?

My 94 definitly has a lockout. I have the little ring on the shifter that must be pulled up in order to allow the shifter to go to the right and down to engage reverse(except mine does work properly. I have confirmed all this thru the service manual. Still looking for help. Zane
