Factory EPROM

I went and put my vett (1992 manual transmission) through the state inspection today and it failed

. I was advised to take the performance chip out and put the factory one back in.

Here is the question; on the performance chip assembly (Hypertech) there is a blue colored holder that has some ICs in it, would I be correct in presuming this is the original EPROM for the car and if I reinstalled it, the car would return to the factory default settings? The blue unit has DELCO BAFL 3867on it.

I also noticed that the, I want to say, white wire (but it is discolored) on the Gray connector (pin 9) on the ECM unit had been cut, would I have to reconnect this wire as well?

Any info on this is very much appreciated.

http://www.hypertech-inc.com/g3install.html check this site out for the install instructions it should help you de install it. However These chips have CARB #'s that should let it pass emissions. So you may want to check to see if something else is really wrong. See ya. Also I didn't see anything that said to cut any wires on the instructions.....

Thanks Dmrodco for the info, you’ll right there was no mention of a wire being cut!! I guess I could reconnect it a see what happens???

You know, I just remembered the gasoline in the vett has been in there for almost 5 months

. With all the work I was doing and the anticipation of getting the car back on the road I forgot to change the gasoline.

the guy who does all my emissions stuff failed my car last month. He said it looked like a injector was clogged. He told me to get the coleman unleaded stove gas ( red Can ) at walmart put 10 gal of gas to 1 gal coleman and run the gas out then refill and retest and ya know what it worked for me ! Also make sure the car is fully warmed up oil temp 200 and water temp 190 or so. Keep us informed. Dewayne

I will try that and put the car in for the retest this week.

Would it be OK to let the car Idle with the occasional revving of the engine to run the gas out. Driving may be a bit risky because my inspection expired in July of this year.
