Default 01 Outside Rear view mirrors

A friend of mine has both of his outside mirrors broken by people bumping into them in a casino parking structure. He has to park there daily. They are TAPED on right now. Are there any replaceable parts in the swivel or will he have to buy two new mirrors? Is there any where I can find out the layout before removing the panels? I will do the work for him, he's quite afraid to work on his car.

HI there,
Unfortunately, due to excessive spring pressure at the swivel junction, you can only purchase the whole mirror assembly.
If you reference the attached diagram, you will see how it is retained.
You will need a wide putty knife, to pop the panel off, a T30 for the 2 bolts behind the door handle, 7mm socket to remove the speaker assemblies, and a 10mm to remove the mirror itself.
Allthebest, c4c5

Thanks for that info. The passenger side of mine let go at about 6 mo's. The drivers side just let go a month ago and I have to replace it. I'm looking for it at the salvage yards. When I got the first one replaced it was at the body shop. The ordered one and it came in gun metal gray, so they had to paint it and all. took 10 days or 2 weeks to get it together and cost about $650.00 if I remember correctly. That was when it was new. With 111,000 mi on it now, it's off to the yard.
