Half Shaft installation

Does anyone know why the half shafts shrunk? I did use hot water when I cleaned them, but I didn't think they would shrink that much. I'm re-installing the half shafts I bolted one side but it's about 3/4 of an inch too short from the other side. Anyone who has done this before have the same prob? Any help is appriciated.

Doug, the only thing I can think of is did one of your trailing arms get shoved out of place? Its about the only thing thats possible.
Let me know what you come up with.
