Default well not today

As some of you know I needed to replace my fuel regulator so I bought an adjustable unit. Looked simple enough to do. NOT

My plennum won't budge even when loosening the bottom runner bolts so put it back together for another day or even may take it to the shop for my mechanic to do.
Before I do that, is there any trick or something I'm missing. I don't want to beat the hell out of the runners to do this. and cause more problems but this plennum ain't budging

carlo,

When I would remove the plenum from my car I would remove all the necessary bolts of the runners (the runners don't need to be removed though). After the throttle body was removed and the cables disconnected, I would put a small towel on the plenum and lightly tap it with a hammer or rubber mallett in different spots to jar it loose. It should break loose after you tap on it.

Default At the back of the plenum

There is a metal tube for the Vac system near firewall on drivers side by distrib.

You need to remove that as well.

Don't forget - the runner-plenum gaskets have plastic tabs that snap into the runner and plenum. You either need to pull the runners away from the plenum at the top (on each side, preferably at the same time) or bang on the plenum (I used a hammer on a block of wood) to break the tabs. And yes there's a small chance a broken tab can fall into the runner if you're not careful. Same with when you scrape the old gasket off the runner.

BTW - don't forget to use a backing wrench (one on the tube, one on the nut) when you remove that vacuum tube from the back of the plenum or you WILL bend it...

Well, I guess I'll give it another try tomorrow. There's goes Football I did all the items mentioned but my driver side runner has a vice lock on the plennum. Tomorrow I won't take no for an answer Oh and then I have to figure a way to get the tamper screws off the regulator. Something tells me it's gonna be a long day but when it's finally done, the feeling of knowing it was done right Oh Yea!

Carlo, go to Napa or sears and look at the different small torx drivers. They have the ones that are hollow inside the torx bit portion so that you can do this job with ease. I think the Discount Auto and Autozone stores now carry them that way.

Good luck and have fun.

You sure yhou got all the Torx bolts loose on the bottom of the runners? there is one on each runner gotten from the opposite side.. mean the bolt head is towards the middle of the base (form side to side view)

Well call me a fool but Jeff was right. I don't know how I missed the bolt for the cable hold down it must have been the Napa Valley Merlot Friday night It sure goes down easy. Anyway what a difference. She's performing so much better through the RPM range. I set it at 42psi and the car is loving it. My engine must have been starving for some time. I also noticed my annoying detonation issue is also gone at WOT. Thanks to you guys for motivating me to get back in there.
Rules!

Carlo
