94 vette in gurnee il.

i have found what appears to be the perfect 1994 6 speed vette in gurnee il. i'm planning on flying into milwaukee at the end of the week and driving it back to the washington d.c area.

i'm wondering if there's anyone on this forum in the area of gurnee il, that would be willing to check out the car for me. it'd be nice to have a little piece of mind from a corvette person. i'd be willing to compensate for time and gas.

From the pic, the vette looks nicely detailed (fresh job, w/ the pepsi can in foreground

I think Gunee is near Chicago and if I remember correctly, that's Edmond stomping grounds, so I volunteer Edmond for the job. What do u say Edmond, r u up for the adventure?

Dang! I was actually out in Gurnee a couple weeks ago. It's a bit west of Waukegan and north of Chicago off 94. Where Great America is. I've got family out there that might be willing to take a look, but none of them are Vette folks - more BMW and Lexus.

If you do buy it, you'll have a really nice trip back, driving the PA turnpike in the fall.

If you go on a weekday, there's a Vette-only dealership just north of Highland Park on southbound 41 (Skokie Hwy) either just north or just south of Half Day Rd. If they're open it's worth a stop just to see the classic ones they're selling - but they might also look yours over. Darned if I can remember the name of it, though.

Yes, I could do that. I'm not that far away from Gurnee. The only problem is that I'm not very experienced with 6 speeds.

But Jeff, the moderator, is also in the area and I believe that Jeff has a 6 speed.

But if you feel comfortable enough for me to check it out, I'll do it.

Yeah I am in the Chicago Suburbs btu an hour away from Gurnee. Not sure if I will have time this week to go check it out.. I have been really busy lately..

thanks for the kind words. funny you mention mo. if the il deal doesn't happen (i really hope it does), there's another black 94 6 speed in mo that i may be considering.

i may be taking you up on the offer.

i've got to say, this forum has been really great, and i don't even own a vette yet.

Gurnee is probably 45 to an hour from me i would guess.. If I had time next weekend I might be able to go look at it for you.. but edmond has my first vote..

I'm not really dumping on the IL Boys, but if something's within an hour or so from me, I feel it's kind of like what the Chevy Boys are trying to convey " We'll Be There ! ".

Gurnee is about an hour away from me, but since my Vette' has been in the garage for the past 2 weeks from a flat (tires are coming in on Monday!!!), I won't mind making the trip.

I really wish I could help you but I have been swamped at work and I also have a 7 week old baby in the house. Like I said I don't want it to sound like I am making excuses, but with my wife home all day with the baby right now, after work she wants me home to give herself a break
