What is a 1965 327 engine worth out of a vette? and what would I need to do to it to run on todays fuel? Is there any numbers that I can check fast to make sure it came out of a 1965 vette. I know that the intake manifold is not original. Was thinking of putting it in a 1974.

Look at my post 327 Mystery engine next gen.

That will have all the info you need.

So does your car have A/C.. if you use the STOCK Double hump heads...your screwed, the heads have no ACC bolt holes, and the head casting is to thin to drill & tap.

You will also have to change the valve seats to hardened seats to run unleaded.


Did the 74 have a CAT?

Your emissions plumbing will not work without some reworking.

Get the casting numbers off the block & heads and I will ID it for you.

Unless you REALLY are getting a killer deal ( under $400.00, which I paid for mine including engine stand & Turbo 400 tranny)

Leave it alone... rebuild the SNOT out of another engine!

What's on the stamp pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head? That's the only way to tell what it is, if it hasn't been decked.

when you refer to stamp pad is the the H series no.?

this says HO
