Subject: stolen 2000 coupe
Date sent: Sat, 2 Nov 2002 20:58:53 -0500

I had my car on consignment with Corvette City of Atlanta. They took the car the first of Aug. On Aug 25, 2002 I called them and asked about the car.. I was going on vacation the next weekend and wanted to drive it if they hadn't sold it.. Jim Clemente, told me someone was coming to look at the car on Wed. morning.. I said fine but if he didn't sell it I was coming to get it..

I called back on Thursday morning, because he didn't call me like he said he would. He said the car was sold.. I said good..

When I came back from vacation the next week and talked with them they said they would have my check in about 3 weeks.. At the end of the 3 weeks I had no check so I went to check on the car and see where the check was..Paul Hirshberg, the owner of Corvette City of Atlanta, told me that we were not suppose to get any money until 45 to 60 days, I didn't know this deal because my husband had dropped the car off and signed the agreement.

When I asked to see the car to inspect it, he told me that the car
was not there.. I asked where the car was and who had bought it? Paul, would not give me this information. I contacted the bank where I had the loan and they tried to work with him also..

Now the 60 days are up I have no car, no money Paul will not tell
us who bought the car or where it is at. Paul has informed the bank that the company is going bankrupt and I will get no money..

So the car has been sold to someone and they should not be able to get a clear title with a loan still owed on the car.. If the title has been signed it was forged and this makes it a felony. The DA. of at Atlanta has been contacted

It is a 2000 navy blue metallic 6-speed with golden oak interior, vin number is 1G1YY22GXY5111924 Magnesium wheels, and if the pipes have not been changed back to stock Basni X pipe with straight pipes back to the rear.. also there is some minor damage to the passenger interior door area.( white marks.)

If you will help to send the word out and pass on this information to anyone and everyone, maybe we can get the new owner his title and our money.. plus Mr. Paul Hirshberg in jail for fraud..also please tell
everyone you know not to do any business with Corvette City of
Atlanta or New Hampshire.. Unless they know for sure that everything in the up and up.

If you have any information on this car please contact..
Mr. Davis at Citizens Bank of Wakulla, Florida 850-926-5211 or
my self stellabeeler@yahoo.com 912-484-4480 a reward is offered.

thank you for your time.. Stella Beeler

Interesting because I dealt with them last year. I was going to buy a Vette from them. They supposadly had a white 1999 Vette in stock. I gave them a $500 deposit on it. I called and called and they told me that something was wrong with the Vette and they were not going to sell it. They wanted to sell me a red on instead that had just come in. I didn't care what color it was as long as it was a Vette. After going back and fourth for two months I said forget it and bought the Vette I have now. I called them to get my money back and no one returned my calls. This is why I don't give anyone cash or checks right off the bat, I gave it to them by credit card. I called my credit card company and wouldn't you know it my money was returned to me immediately. They are a bunch of thieves. Good luck with your delema and keep us updated.

Wow, that sucks.. I can't believe how many Jack-A$$'$ there are in this world that do these things to people.. Thats one reason I would never sell a car on consignment. When I was looking to find my admiral blue coupe I looked at a 94 polo green coupe which seemed to be a nice deal which I passed up but anyhow the guy said he only wanted cash for the car. he buys and sells alot of cars mainly he restores old GTO's and stuff but anyhow he had an 96 Impala SS he was selling and he supposedly got a bogus cashiers check and didn't know till 2 weeks later when the bank called him.. I don't know if it was a true story or not.. he seemed like an honest guy and all.. anyhow I didn't buy the vette because I knew I needed to look at more of them.. and I ended up being impatient and buying mine which as most of you know the trans went on... and I knew it was going to happen the fluid was burnt and dark.. and i used that in my bargining.. but anyhow I'm done rambiling.. sorry to hear that.. though..

Dan,

That was very good to think about the potential of being ripped off. I think we could all learn a lesson from you for our future reference.

That is a pretty rare car, especially since it has magnesium wheels.... The first place I would check is chevrolet...any service work performed is tracked by VIN number, they know when/where/who brought the car in. I would assume a 2000 is still under warrantee, and the new "owner" would probably take it in

It's amazing how many unscrupulous car dealers there are out there. Some of you may recall my experience a month ago when I became 'Vette-less.

Since I've begun my search again for another Corvette, I've definitely been VERY cautious. Nonetheless, a lesson learned by me. I certainly hope everything works out for these people.

Thanks, it is pretty sad that I had to do it that way because you don't know who you can trust these days. Everyone is so worried about money, that's not what life is all about.

Unfortunately none of the C5s has OnStar. They couldn't figure out where to put the antennas.

Sorry that you had to meet up with someone so dishonest...

I know Corvette City well. They are rip off artists. I have tried to deal with them many times. If there is anything I can do please let me know.

I tried to get them to give me the "new" owners name so i could "make him an offer" on it but they wouldn't bite. I hate dishonest dealers like this. I am 3 miles from thier NH office and they wouldn't help me either. Seems Georgia and Florida have some laws that protect these thieves. I have 4600 bucks lost in Florida to some yahoo wholsaler so I know what it is like to loose some cash though not quite as much as a 2000 Vette is worth. I am trying to get my cash back now but not having much luck. Started a thread back a couple days ago here.

As my last reply indicated I tried to help this lady. Well she emailed me a couple days ago and it seems Corvette City coughed up the money. Looks like this case is solved.

Isn't it amazing that when your reputation as a seller gets published online, you start to do things right?

I'm glad to see that the honest woman got her money back and I hope this will deter future auto dealers from pulling things like this.

Ok has anyone gone to the police here? This is grand theft auto we're talking about here.

When an Item is on consignment they have to be able to show the vehicle if it has not been sold. At the point of sale the owner should be contacted (Usually because of price haggeling). From that point the owner is given the money or the bank will be paid off leaving the car free title. The owner THEN take his cut.

We've done consignments before with computers and this is is exactly how the sale is done. Not im not sure over laws regarding consignment however this is Grand Theft Auto 101 and the owner of the establishment is liable (this is why we have insurance!)

I hope every turns out well for you that sounds like a beautiful car!
