Default How can I determine previous owners??

Does anybody have info on how to determine previous owners of a Midyear? Mine is a 1966 coupe; I have only vague knowledge of the prior owners. I'm the 5th owner per the person I purchased it from. Does the factory keep records of where cars were delivered to via VIN numbers, possible dealership name etc?

Prevous thread helped a lot. I really needed the info on water leaks. When my car was delivered on carrier it had 2 inches of water in the foot wells.

Your state DMV would be the most likely place to start. I sure build sheets weren't left in cars until 67', if you know the dealer that received the car new you might be able to get records from them. If not it could be very difficult. Some records are available from the NCRS which might help you find the dealer, which could lead to the previous owners.
Water leak in the front foot wells could mean a rusted windshield frame or leaking front windshield seal.
Hope this might help.

Thanks for the info. I'm a recent owner so haven't gotten to joining NCRS as yet. It seems like a good org. and that is proably the best way to go as I purchased the car from another part of the country. Previous owner was very vague about prior owners.

At the top of this page is a tab labeled "History". Click on that and page down to "Vehicle History Search". This will get you started in the process of tracing your cars history.

Just another feature of your Corvette Action Center Community.

Good luck and I hope your search is successful.

I was lucky....I had the original owners name and did an internet search of every single state....wrote down the names and address and sent out over 50 flyers with info on the car and what I knew of it, asking if I had the right party. Two nights later, got an email from them....they had bought my '65 Coupe new in Florida....good luck, I hope you find success.
