Hi all,

Myself and cj5nutz have made arrangements for Corvette Action Center group parking at Mid America Motorworks FunFest for Corvette in Effingham, IL September 19, 20, & 21 2008. For more information on this years event see Rob's wright up:
Over 15,000 Corvette’s set to attend 2008 Corvette Funfest (http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105514)

This will be the 3rd year that we've made group parking arrangements and I've got to say it really adds to the fun. Its an excellent opertunity to meet some of your fellow CAC members face-to-face. I love getting together with CAC friends old and new. I've also got to say that Mid America has been very good to us with prime locations in each of the previous years.

All we need to know is how many cars are coming and how much space to allocate for tents. If you would like to park with us please vote yes in the attached pole. This is our count. Then post in this thread stating your intention to park with us. This tells me to add your user name to the list.

*EDIT* - For a pdf file copy of the parking pass for the 2008 FunFest, click here ---> Parking Pass (http://corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showpost.php?p=917121&postcount=77)

In the words of the Terminator: I'll be back! ;LOL

Save a space for me and my Road Warrior Trophy! :rotfl

I promise NOT to lock my fob in my Vette! :boogie

Thanks so much to the two of you!

Will MAM have a special deal on tents? I am thinking of purchasing one and then sending it home in the brown truck! It will fit in the Vette, but leaves very little room for my clothes!

I'll check on the tents. Beware, they might not fit into a C4. They are a real squeeze in the C3. Basically they only fit because the passenger seat lays flat. You've got even less cargo room in a C4.

John, thanks for the heads up regarding the fit in a C4.

I took Scott Noxid's tent to him in Mt Vernon last year. It fit in my Vette but did not leave any room for much else! :)

That's why I said I would use the Brown Truck (UPS) to ship it home. I am hoping I can ship it through MAM. That would be cool, huh?

Greg, I took mine over to CJ's last year, and he delivered it and set it up with the rest of them, and you brought it back on Sunday. I had a family wedding party to attend on that Sunday. Even if I don't make the Fest or not I can have mine delivered to the site, and you guys can set it up with the rest of them. They sure were a great gathering place, and kept you out of the sun. You guys did a great job. I am planning on attending it all depends on how my surgery goes, but I was also planning on attending the CAC Fest here in Cleveland also and I ran out of time...Scott:cry:grouphug::thumb

You're right about that John, particularly last year. We were on pole position for everything. Thanks for all your effort coordinating things. I'll be there Friday morning this year. You bringing both of your cars this year?

John.....I posted this concerning the Effingham Super 8 back in May. Perhaps they'll start a waiting list but as of then, they were booked for the FF weekend.

Effingham Hotels....
John,

I called the Super 8 last night to confirm my reservation for the event. The clerk told me that they had just sold their last room for FunFest and that other area motels were either completely booked, or very close to it.

Anyone in the CAC group who hasn't yet needs to get on the phone right away and get a room reserved.

With this kind of demand, I'm surprised that MidAmerica doesn't open their own motel or dormitory-type facility adjacent to the FunFest site. I'll bet they've considered it.

All,

Here is a link to a list of hotels in the Effingham area. If you don't have a room yet start working on it now. You may be fishing for cancellations already. It might require some persistence.

I plan on being there;LOL
I am there Wednesday through Sunday and am so looking forward to this years most extravagant Corvette party!
I want to extend a special thanks to John for setting this up again this year!
Any of you guys and dolls on the fence about coming to this one, jump on over and you will not be disappointed. This is Mid America's Anniversary Funfest and they are pulling out all the stops. Mike is giving away $50,000 in gift certificates this year on Sunday !!!
We will have premium parking and tents for shade.
I am bringing two tents myself and any others that want to purchase one, we will set it up for you and have it ready when you get to Funfest.
I will not be staying in the Super 8 this year, I gave up my room to a Corvette buddy. I will be staying at Camp Lakewood, about 2 miles from Funfest in our new (wooo hooo) 38' 2009 5th wheel camper ( sorry, just had to throw that in there). We are so excited about Funfest this year.
I was going to stay on the grounds this year but, I don't have an RV generator yet, for those of you that have ever bought one of those, you know they break the bank... again... ;help
My son just turned 18 and has plans to come this year to his first Funfest ever. I just have to get him here from NC......

John, thanks again for all you do !!!

Guys, I will see you all at the premier Corvette party of the year,

Scott......You made the right call on staying somewhere else besides the FF grounds. While the MidAmerica facility is great for the show and for the CAC parking (they even built a dedicated amphitheater area for the concert last year), the camping area is pretty rough. I wandered over there on Saturday evening last year to look at something and made a mental note that perhaps one of the area campgrounds would be more hospitable.

I was thinking if Mike put in hookups for campers in the field, it could be a destination year round for the camping world. Those crazy people are always looking for a new place to go . He would benefit two fold. He has the grounds for Funfest and such and could have a camper/motorhome spot or two year round as well for the roadtrip customers.
I would like to stay there but I am not into dry camping at all, baby needs her a/c and cable. :L

Au Contraire.....Actually, I voted the first day that the poll was opened. I just tried to vote again and was denied ("You have already voted"). Come on, does anybody think that I'd lag back on something like Fun Fest? This is my one and only vacation for the year and there's no where else that I'd rather be than Effingham with the CACers. Yeah, I know, I missed Cruise Fest (John, I saw you and Linda in one of the early photos), but Cleveland was a long way from Memphis. I went to the C4 Gathering at NCM in May and am going to the Corvette Reunion in Bowling Green July 17. I spent last Sunday chanting a Zaino mantra around my car as multiple layers of Z2 (with catalyst) went on with Z6 and Z8 between coats. The CS goes on tonight.

Now if I can just prevent what happened last year when some pranksters "reloacted" my car to another parking position.....

Greg,

I asked MAM about the tent promo this year and got the following response. It's not a bad deal so if your interested now is the time to pull the trigger.

"Yes. We are offering the same promotion as last year on the tents. Purchased price is $130 or Rental price is $100. We put them up, take them down (well, I guess you do) and then ship it FREE!"

John, I am going to be out of town all but 3 days for the next 30 days, could you please give Nancy a call. I told her you would be handling this again . Thank's a million .
I thought of another way to get people to show this year. Free Beer!!!
So, I told Suzy we would buy a beer for everyone that comes to Funfest this year.
(that is one free beer and about 50,000 straws) Now where am I going to find 50,000 straws :boogie

Here is what she sent me.....

Off-topic but I've got a hotel room in Bowling Green for the National Corvette Homecoming this weekend for Friday and Sat. nights. It's at the Baymont Inn which is one of the two official event hotels. The group rate is $84 per night.

I also have a room at the Holiday Inn, so the Baymont room is available to anyone who'd like to go to the event on short notice. They told me today that both hotels have been sold out since May.:thumb

PM me today or tomorrow (Wednesday night) if you'd like to take the room. I'll have to cancel it Thurs. morning if no one is interested.

I (and Monica) can't make it this year due to my work schedule, but we'll try for next year! And maybe Carlisle too! ...As long as neither of them interfere with CruiseFest VI. :D

Here's what John's talking about. This photo of our CAC parking area from '07 shows our luxurious three tents, the totally organized parking with plenty of room, and the best part, we're literally right in the main area of FunFest with quick access to the seminars, the exhibits, the vendors, etc. Those white tents in the background are the seminar areas.
:beer

This is a great deal if you're going to FunFest. But John needs a count of cars expected and he needs it pretty much now. If you're thinking about coming, chime in quick so that he can let MidAmerica know how much room we need.

Me too. FF '06 was the first Corvette event that I attended after buying my car in July, '06. My learning curve had been straight up for five or six months and pullling into FunFest for the first time was truly amazing. Compared to that other singular event in most people's lives....ok, sex....FunFest was way better!:boogie

Seminars so loaded with information that'll you'll wish you had an audio recorder (I'm actually bringing one this year for myself).:D

Want to talk to the Chief Engineer who developed the entire C4 program? Dave McLellan will be there to speak and is always available to talk to owners.

How about 45 minutes of non-stop answers from C4 Guru Gordon Killebrew? Gordon's the factory expert that Chevrolet put in charge of teaching the dealers how to fix Corvettes in the field. Think you know the factory service manual for your C4? Gordon wrote parts of it. That's Gordon (below) making a mental list of things for me to fix on my '96.

And heck, the CAC / FunFest crowd is pretty darn knowledgeable as well. Dwayne Fenton is a for-real paint expert....as in OE factory paint. He knows it all. John Grawcock is quite a resource for the early C4s and the Crossfire engine. LT4Man is a walking database of knowledge on the '96 C4 models.....standard, Collector Edition (which he owns), Grand Sport, and the Lt1, LT4, LT5 (ZR1) engines. I opened my hood at FunFest the first year and from ten feet away, he pointed out an LT1 fuel rail cover on the left bank of my LT4! And this was before I had even met him.

If you've got a technical inclination....and we all do if we're in this hobby....then the FunFest seminars will offer up more material than you'll be able to handle.

Although Effingham motels have been long-since booked up for Fun Fest, I found a number of rooms avail. for Friday and Saturday nights at the Waldorf Motel in St. Elmo. It's 20 miles west on hwy. 40 which is not bad at all. I had to stay 60 miles south in Salem for my first Fest.

Call 618-829-5665 and talk to (Mr.) Ben Kate. He's the owner I believe. The CAC rate is $40 per night tax included for a single. Some of the other CACers stayed at this hotel in '06 and said that it was fine. I'll be there Thursday night if anyone wants to rehydrate from a long day. :beer

It still has the same furniture and mattress and carpet etc. that it had in 1970. ;LOL I was not near as worried about that as I was the gravel parking lot that everyone kept sliding into. :bash.. Everytime we pass the exit we just look at each other and thank the good Lord we are not at the Waldorf this year.
I would keep looking if I was you. :thumb

Yeah, I know. It may not be the Waldorf Astoria, but it's $40 and it's not in St. Louis. I was gnashing my teeth the other night at the more-than-double rate gouge that I'm paying at another hotel for Friday and Saturday :mad and called Waldorf when I arranged to get in on Thursday. At $40 a night, I figure I'm up $60 for the scratch and dent sale on Friday. :thumb Also, I travel alone, so my threshold for hotel aminities may be lower than that for a couple.

The owner did tell me tonight that they have redecorated and replaced some beds and furniture since the last "Corvette Weekend." For one night, it's worth it to me to save the bucks. Also, getting stuck a distance away from Effingham is a drag. I did that once and said "never again."

Friday Evening Art Reception and Wine Tasting Charity Event

Corvette Funfest 2008 marks the fourth year of hosting our exclusive Automotive Art Exhibit. Mike and I invite you to our home on Friday evening September 19th, to enjoy this annual event. In the past, and again this year, our local 7-County Foster- Children Program will benefit from this annual reception.

Have Lunch With The Chief!

Take advantage of this opportunity to get up close and personal with Mid America Motorworks' very own Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yager. Mike will greet you in the MY Garage Museum where he will discuss how it all began and move into his favorite topic - his very own MY Garage Museum Collection. A catered lunch will be served at noon.

Saturday Evening Chuck Wagon BBQ

How do you celebrate one of the biggest Corvette gatherings in the world? Mid America Motorworks wants to celebrate it with an old fashioned Chuck Wagon BBQ, drinks, a bonfire and live entertainment!

Dear Funfest Registrants,

This year is an exceptionally
special year for us at Mid America Motorworks. At Corvette Funfest this year, we have not one, but two very exciting anniversaries to celebrate!

Twenty years ago, Mid America Designs teamed up with Exxon, Goodyear, and many others to bring about the Challenge Series. What an exciting history we have seen for those cars! Many of the owners, racers, and designers will be at Funfest this year!

We are also celebrating the 15th annual Corvette Funfest. Looking at Funfest today, it's hard to believe that 15 years ago, we started out with just 300 Corvettes and 1,200 people. Thanks to all of you who have been faithfully attending each year!

Let's make this year the best yet!

Hugs,

mike.yager@mamotorworks.com

Scott.....Is it just me or are you stuck under a big limb on this tree?;shrug

If you are stuck, don't worry. I've been watching Wrecked on Speed Channel and I can give you pointers on getting out. They usually start out with lots of swearing, then move on to ripping the axles out from under the trailer......followed by more swearing.

I think I'm in the wrong business.

cj5nutz

Nope , missed it by nearly inches. Limbs are gone now.. I also have a major road project going here right now. I have widened the drive by 12 ft for most of it and its over 60 ft wide at the top.

The things they don't tell you when you buy a rolling house !!!

I am so excited about Funfest again this year. I have the tents out and ready to go.

I think I will bring the "house" to the campground and then drive back home and get a Vette. Then Suzy just has to bring up the other Vette when she comes up Thursday night or Friday.

Problem solved... I think...

Just a lot of road time but well worth it for the premier Corvette party of the year !

Me too. I've cleared the decks at work so that I can leave Memphis very early (5 hours, 10 minutes driving time last year non-stop). My goal is to get there around noon in time to help with the tents.

Then on to the luxurious Waldorf for a shower (me and the vette), and then :beer.

Hello and good morning sir... First of all , I hope you had a wonderful Labor day weekend .

Second, the other forum is using gate 4 , we are using gate 5 or as it is called this year ... the "orange gate "

Third, John was mailed the packet with all the info on the 29th , he should have the print out thingy for our parking and all the other information.

I am sure he will be posting all that pretty soon. :beer

It probably is a toss up , but I would say they got premium. I can only do so much for us with only 10 or so people turning out. CF has a loyal following and numbers speak. We have the people on this site, theirs just show up.... go figure?

Funny that you mention that. I was talking to LT4Man over the weekend about why more CAC members don't join us at Fun Fest. I personally can't imagine. Whether it's the camaradie....or the convenience of reserved parking.....or the friendly faces (ok, I guess that falls under camaradie)....I don't know why you'd want to park by yourself out in the north 40 and not enjoy talking to acquaintences.;shrug

I don't know, maybe I'm overly social or something, but being part of the CAC group is at least half the fun of the event for me.
:beer

Ok, I've got it. Somebody on the advance team getting there Thursday.....ok, I'll do it......needs to recruit two or more shapely, friendly girls/ladies as......uh, what kind of title can we give them?....."social coordinators." Yeah, that's the ticket. :thumb

If we had twenty cars @ $20 apiece, that'd cover the girls for Sat. What's everybody think about this.....John, Linda, Zum, Gregory, Scott, Dewayne, others? (pardon me for not listing everybody by name)

By the end of the event, folks'll be saying, "What other forum?":upthumbs

I thought for sure my free beer would do it, I just needed a count for the number of straws I would need. :L

We will have a great spot this year. :upthumbs If you want a workout, walk back to where some of the other smaller groups are parked and try to be back by dark :D

I am now there Wednesday through Monday. Thursday is the first work day for me, I have to take the house up Wed. and set it up, check in and all that good stuff. As of today I have 21 tents that need to be put up and thats not including my 2.
If anyone else from our group is bringing or sending a tent , we need to know , each tent takes up one parking space and we want to be sure and have room for everyone.

The girls are already there , but I don't dare look or comment on it since the wife reads this too.

A lot of the people park with their Corvette clubs and friends . Some park with in the special parking for whatever events Mike has going, like the 8s this year and so on.
Where ever you park is fine as long as you come, but you will not find a better spot than we have each year. Also parking with us , you know who you are parking beside of and somone will almost always be in the tent area "watching" the cars.

I spoke with Nancy today and they have started marking the field, doing the layout. It's almost time.

If you are still on the fence about going, register anyway. it's free and will be untill September 5th. John also needs the count for spaces by then .

They will be followed by the sounds of one of the heartland's best, Matt Poss & Rolling Thunder. The St. Louis River Front Times describes Matt as "another link in the great chain of heartland rockers, a hybrid caught between Mellencamp and Steve Earle with shots of Tom Petty and Jimmy Martin.”

Mid America Motorworks is also giving you 50,000 reasons to spend the

weekend at Funfest! On Sunday September 21, $50,000 in gift certificates will be awarded. You must be present to win. Further details posted on our website at www.corvettefunfest.com (http://www.corvettefunfest.com). Sunday could be your lucky day!

Admission to Fun Fest, free. Hands-on instruction and tips, invaluable!

I don't know about you but if I'm considering an expensive upgrade that may involve quite a bit of semi-skilled work on my part, I'd like to talk to someone who has already done a similar project. Suspension, brakes, intake and exhaust upgrades.....each of these changes can easily go over a thousand dollars and are made or broken by your skill and knowledge.

Fun Fest will put you in touch with experts who not only have completed hundreds of installs, but may have actually engineered the products in the first place. For example, interested in relocating your 40lb. battery to the rear of your C4 for better weight distribution? Check out this picture I took last year:

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/Boeingdriver_photo/100_1006.jpg

Or thinking about refurbishing your interior with new leather, console cushion and door panels? Let an expert show you how: http://www.mamotorworks.com/funfest/funfest2008/corvettediy.html

Exhaust upgrades? Watch the pros do it at Install Alley. Then you get to listen to the finished product. And you can talk to the owner making the upgrade and hear his decision process leading up the choice you just heard. I made notes last year on systems that I liked for my car, and some that were just too aggressive. Try doing that at your local muffler shop!:bash

Thinking about wheels? Check out the Mid America catalog and then go out on the show grounds with your camera. I guarantee that you'll find numerous examples of your car, in your color, with the wheels that you're considering. Nothing beats seeing the actual combination! Take some pictures and head back home to place your order.:upthumbs

Gosh, this post ought to be reasons 8, 7 & 6 all rolled together. I can't wait!

To all of you that know Linda and I from previous Vette gatherings, I'm sorry to say that Linda took a fall last Friday and is laid up with a broken ankle. She's not in a great deal of pain at this point but she'll be stuck in a cast for the next 8 to 10 weeks.

It is fine with me, might be an issue with the campground, I know they charge for visitors and there is a cut off for visitors , I think it might be 9 pm. They also have limited parking , only allowing one vehicle per site.
If I keep my truck there, I will have to leave both Vettes at Funfest.

:wHi Scott, Just turn around my Noxid, and you have Dixon, and my first name is Joseph and you have it. I live in southern Illinois now, I retired back in 98, and moved to my roots. I am now staying with my son in Cleveland until I get through with a knee operation which is taking forever because of a staph infection I got in the hospital when they tried to fix it the first (in Mt. Vernon) time back in February. It don't look like I will make the FunFest this year. I really hate to miss it but the surgery won't happen until the end of Sept, if then. Be sure and stay with the guys at the CAC parking, and you will have a great time. They are all good friends of mine, and I will be there next year the lord willing and the creek don't rise. Dar.....

By all means, yes. (yes on the room, no on the too late)

I'm sure that you've already preregistered with Mid America. Back up a number of posts on this thread and download the parking placard. That'll get you in to the spacious, pysdo-VIP CAC parking area.

Then just sit back and count the days down. Glad that you'll join us.

Nutz's post:

As of right now, there are 2 rooms available at Super 8 You will have to be quick.....

And......there's a residential street that leaves the WalMart parking lot to the North (this is right out the door of the Super 8), and goes directly to the Funfest site via some very nice backroads (no more than 2 miles max.).

You enter the area from the north west edge of the property on hwy. 45 and can enter the "orange gate" where the CAC group is very easily. The benefit is 1. no traffic getting in, and 2. leaving after the concert Sat. night, you're out of there and back to the hotel in minutes without having to deal with breathchecking police,:ohnoes and lots of dust. If you wind up staying there, talk to me at the tent and I'll give you directions.

Also, the Super 8 has a nice sloped wash bay and hose on the east side of the property for quickie car washes. I hate their doubled rates for Funfest (I'm paying $94 plus at least 12% tax), but they sure are convenient. Now if they'd just learn to speak english.:bash

Yes, and they'll have an "event tax" tacked on by the time you check out if it's like last year. I understand supply and demand but greed kills business and I hope they get a taste of it if Mike moves Funfest out of Effingham because of the blatent price gouging. I'm staying in a $40 hotel 20 miles west on Thursday night (LT4Man has an even better deal in another hotel to the west), but it's worth an extra $120 ($60 per night) I guess to be so much closer for Friday and Saturday nights. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I heard they're thinking about renaming it "NASCAR Midwest" since that's the only series that has developed, rather than lost, a walk-up (live gate) fan base. IRL is a ghost of what open wheel racing used to be as USAC and later, CART at the speedway. And Formula One gridded six cars year before last for the start of the USGP. Admittedly, the F1 debacle was not of Tony George's doing, but the truth is that NASCAR is by far the largest draw at the speedway now. I used to live 12 miles from the track and was (still am) a huge fan of open wheel racing. If I were trying to promote professional racing in pretty much any form these days, I'd be trying to borrow pages out of the NASCAR playbook. :BOW
Just my opinion as they say.

I do have you beat by three (3) miles! :chuckle

Now everyone will be trying to change their reservations! ;LOL

Seriously, if not for the fact that Agnes (97 years young) passed away in March, I would still be paying $27.00 a nite. And that includes all taxes, real or imagined. I am going to miss being two blocks from Downtown Effingham.

You are such a doll, Thank You !

Well all is set up and the first day is about to begin
It looks to be a wonderful weekend and the grounds look wonderful. As you pull in to gate 5 (the orange gate) we are just to the left of the white tent you will be headed towards . We are second row, center ;) . First row gets the dust from the passing traffic :D
We have porta potties next to us, ( hopefully not too close) and our very own speaker ;LOL for those of you that remember last year. I am told it will not be as loud this year, time will tell.

We got the tents all set up on Wednesday and John helped all day yesterday with the set up of the fields as far as where the clubs are located and all the little orange cones you see have our finger prints all over them.

As I was headed to get the Corvettes yesterday evening I saw Greg in his beautiful, perfectly clean LT4 headed to his hotel.

I guess I need to get back inside and see if the wife is ready to go. There are squirrels playing in the trees above the picnic table and acorn bombs are falling all around.:L

See you all today or tomorrow, I will be here .

Nutz........You're 'da man! Thank you for the pre and post work with the tents, the good company (along with Suzie) under the tents, and, of course, represtin' (it's a Memphis ghetto expression) for the CAC with Mike and the ultra-VIP set. All kidding aside, with the dedication that you have for everything associated with Funfest, and the effort you put into making the CAC group comfortable, you both deserve VIP status. I'm delighted that you won on Sunday.

And to John Grawcock, thanks again this year for being our front guy to work with MAM getting our parking spot. Some clubs get hung out to dry in the north 40 every year. Guess they don't know what you know.

I stayed in E'ham Sat. night but couldn't return on Sunday because of commitments back home. It was a 6 hour trip yesterday and I just didn't have a choice.

Nice to see everybody.

Mid America Motorworks’ 2008 Corvette Funfest

America’s Largest Celebration of Corvettes and Customers

Effingham, IL- Mid America Motorworks hosted its fifteenth annual customer appreciation event the weekend of September 19-21. Corvette Funfest, held annually on Mid America Motorworks’ 150 acre corporate campus, is one of the largest gatherings of Corvette enthusiasts in the country. During the three-day celebration, more than 15,000 Corvettes were displayed and over 45,000 enthusiasts enjoyed the sights and seminars.

This year’s theme was the Corvette Challenge Series. Homage was paid to the many owners, drivers, and creators of the series. Dave McLellan, “the man behind the cars,” was the special guest for the weekend and participated in many seminars and Celebrity Autograph sessions. The Challenge Series theme was continued throughout the event on commemorative event posters and t-shirts given free to each registrant who brought their Corvette to the show.

Corvette Funfest 2008 was full of exciting new displays and events. The Budweiser Clydesdales were in attendance throughout the weekend and were hitched as part of the Celebrity Choice Awards Ceremonies held at the new Field of Dreams area. The new Corvette Cantina offered guests an opportunity to cool off and enjoy a fun wine tasting, original art, and an automotive jewelry display. Another new display, the Performance Choice Do-It-Yourself tent, featured demonstrations by expert installers from Performance Choice. Two complete interior restorations were done, as well as several seat cover and console cushion installations.

On Friday morning, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially open the new Performance Choice facility located on the Mid America Motorworks campus. Performance Choice, a division of Mid America Motorworks that manufactures and installs custom Corvette interiors, had previously been located six miles south of the corporate campus. The move was completed in early 2008.

Corvettes from every model year of the marque could be seen throughout the weekend. Many were observed parking in “Club Field”, an area reserved specifically for Corvette clubs and members. This year 87 Corvette clubs from around the country attended Funfest. Special display parking featured the Corvette Challenge Cars, the Field of Dreams – a special display on only one Corvette of each year and color from 1997-2004, and “8’s in 08” displaying each Corvette decade ending with 8.

Enthusiasts were able to buy, sell, and modify Corvettes at Funfest. Dozens of major industry suppliers brought products and answered questions concerning proper installation and use. At the “Install Alley” over 200 customers had new exhaust systems installed by Corsa, Borla, B&B and Mid America Motorworks. Many other Corvette owners added high performance brake systems from Baer Brakes, SLP air intakes and American Car Craft dress-up items to their vehicles. Callaway Corvette, Bondurant Racing and Goodyear also set up special displays to educate and entertain Corvette fans.

Over 100 Corvettes were offered for sale by their owners in the “For Sale Corral.” Many changed hands, leaving the new owners searching for extra garage space. Those enthusiasts already prepared with unique garage space entered the “Best Garage & Corvette Themed Room” contest.

General Motors impressed enthusiasts with an extensive display of 2009 Corvettes. GM Engineers were also available to give escorted rides to the children, and children-at-heart, attending Funfest.

Although the planned Blue Suede Crew and Matt Poss and Rolling Thunder concerts were cancelled due to inclement weather, many enthusiasts hung around for the Sunday afternoon $50,000 Giveaway. Customers who were present on Sunday had the chance to win Mid America Motorworks gift certificates ranging in value from $50 to $5,000, totaling $50,000.

Throughout the weekend, many people headed to Mid America Motorworks’ Funfest Sales & Registration Building . Thousands took advantage of the 10% discount or free ground shipping offered on Mid America Motorworks products. Mid America Motorworks, where “Pursue your passion here” is the company slogan, helped thousands of Corvette enthusiasts to do just that at Corvette Funfest 2008.

Corvette Funfest 2009 will be a very special Funfest, as it will be a celebration of Mid America Motorworks’ 35th Anniversary. As of today, the dates and location are still being determined.

It was a pleasure meeting everyone for the brief period that I did. I ran into a friend from Ohio and was checking out all the stuff. Unfortunately I received a phone call and had to make a quick exit from there. Nothing I can go into detail about, but all is fine now. :beer
