Hey Bud, I heard that little town of Amarillo only had 3 or 4 cars! Are you getting all of them to show up? :D Seriously, I hope you get a good turn out. Sounds like some great causes will benefit. :lou

:w Dennis,

I won't promise, but I'll try and get some pictures :D I've been known to take my camera on cruise's, and never take a picture ;shrug

I have Rare all spiffed up and ready, Abby will sit this one out, but she is registered for the Oklahoma City RiverWind Casino show. If Rare is still in the stable she is making the trip to OK too, and I'll put her in the show there. (Rare is for sale ;) )

Hopefully I can get all four cars together at the show, so I don't have to waste time taking four photo's :boogie

:w VJ,

I just downloaded my few photo's :L I'm NOT a good photographer and I have proof :D

I'll post a few in another post ;)

But I want to tell our Corvette Action Center Community that 3 members here particpated in Xtravaganza "08 and ALL 3 come home WINNERS :upthumbs

VJ won with his beautiful Yellow 2002 HotRod Coupe (? I think that's right)
Congrats VJ :upthumbs

Then there is "cutterpablo" (Paul) and his LOW Mileage Pure NCRS class biege/bronze 1981.. Paul was Concours Winner in the C3's...
http://corvetteactioncenter.com/gallery/data/500/Paul_81.jpg

And here is Rare :D We got (I think) 2nd in the C3 Concours. The awards recongnize each Class Winner, the other 2 awards are Class Awards, so 3rd or 2nd in Concours is pretty good for the lack of care poor Rare has received these last few years ;) (I warned ya, Me and Camera's are like oil & water together :eek

I'll be back in bit with more photo's and a little about one of the RAREST 1980's EVER, I've read about them (all 3) and I actually got to touch one :W :dance

Before I slobber all over myself, I'll post a few photo's from the show.

I didn't get a lot of photo's, as I mentioned before I have NO SENSE of photo taking, and I generally really mess up photo's, e.g. notice the firehose in one of these photo's :duh :eyerole

#183 ~ 1953 Corvette
Restored to showroom condition, absoletely gorgeous!!
http://corvetteactioncenter.com/gallery/data/500/1953_183.jpg

Most cars inside were in the Concour or Modified.
Photo's I didn't get ~ a 1957 painted black with flames, not just on the car, but throughout the engine compartment and interior, it actually looked like the car was on FIRE!

Dodge Daytona 1969 (?) 4-speed I believe the plaque said 1 of 163, and it was just like it was delivered to Xtravaganza from the Factory :eek

Camaro's, Mustangs, Firebirds I've never seen so many Concours prepaid C M & F's in one spot. everything from big blocks to six cylinders :upthumbs

Motorcycles, even an Old Indian that was pristine ;)

Cars parked inside, just one row of 6 rows of cars :eek
http://corvetteactioncenter.com/gallery/data/500/Inside.jpg

Outside were everthing from a 1954 Studibaker, a 4 wheel drive pickup I could almost walk under :eek, and again Chevelle's, Mustangs Camaro's and those power house Dodges & Plymouths :dance

Cars parked outside, 4 rows that made the corner around the building :eek

My first look at the car below was while I was doing the finishing touches on Rare before the judging. My first thought was it was a Duntov Turbo. I've seen 3 or 4 and I believe we have a 1981 on the L81VetteRegistry.

Then it dawned on me... I thought all Duntov Turbos were white, different headlights.... So before the judging gets started and I have some time on my hands, I walk over to take a closer look and read his plaques.

:eek :eek :eek RIGHT there in front of me is a car I've read about, but never saw, nor ever thought I would see. MY GAWD it's a 1980 Factory Turbo Test Car (I refrain from calling it a Mule, it was more like a COPO) :eek :eek :eek

Now I've been around Corvettes for 30+ years, I've met Zora, Dave M., Gordon K. and a few other, and this CAR is right up there with the excitement I had meeting them, (I have Zora's autograph on my New 1984 Sales Book, I still have it :dance ) and seeing what this C3 was just sent shivers down my spine..

I spent about a hour (total) with the gentleman that owns this Extremely RARE C3. The story is DOCUMENTED by GENERAL MOTORS and the present owner (owner #3). All I'll say for now is his story makes some of the "Barn Finds" seem like childrens bedtime stories...

Hopefully the owner will join us here at the Corvette Action Center and I will let him tell the story behind this extremely RARE C3 ;)

I am so HAPPY that I had my camera yesterday, and had the chance to talk to the gentleman that owns this piece of CORVETTE HISTORY, I'm still blown away by it. THIS people is REAL PIECE OF CORVETTE HISTORY.

It's ABOSUTELY GORGEOUS AND EXTREMELY RARE

Now to the Committe and Staff at the Amarillo Area Corvette Club... Excellent Job with Xtrazganza :upthumbs and to Vantage Autohouse for their building and facilities :upthumbs

Hopefully a few of the folks I talked to and gave cards out too, will join us and become part of a Mature Adult Corvette Community ;) :upthumbs
