Default cell phone question

Okay, so who out there can point me in the direction of a good cell phone and any suggestions on where to buy or order one from?

Here's what I'm looking for, Verizon phone, most importantly that it's capable of getting good reception and working as a phone, not the one that has the most bells/whistles/vcast/blue tooth...I don't really care about the best one with XXXX features. I'm looking for the best reception, preferably with a camera but that's pretty much it. I've got an ancient nokia that used to almost never drop calls on me...green screen and only does very small text messages, but it used to get amazing reception. Since then I've had an LG VX4500 and currently a Motorola V325i...both of which are horrible.

Suggestions?

Just try and get a cell phone sales person to give you some information on the “RF” part of the phone, they don’t have a clue!! What you are looking for is receiver sensitivity & adjacent channel rejection for a start. I don’t think they will even know what your talking about, much less have an answer.

Does that about sum it up for the answer you'd get?

Although to be honest, it's about how I feel about it right now too!

I'm *very* happy with my Motorola W385. It has a camera and a color display, plus an outside display, but the best thing is that it has a HUGE battery life. I don't even have a car charger for it - I charge it maybe once a week at most in the house. It has better reception and sound than the LG I replaced. The only things I don't like about it are that the belt clip (not included...) makes you snap the phone in BACKWARDS and last I checked BitPim didn't recognize it (and neither did Motorola's software) so I can't download pix and upload ringtones from my computer yet.

I don't have one and really do enjoy all the features it doesn't have.

Sorry but I can be of no help to you.

Until I had an old LG flip which had zero options and it was almost bulletproof but my office upgraded all of us to CrackBerrys with all bells & whistles. Yes, I'm not amused. As far as the cell component, I'm pleasantly surprised as I'd heard that the reception wasn't great on CrackBerry but so far, it hasn't been a problem whatsoever.

Nokia 6340i...

Can pick up both the new GSM and the older TDMA network. I have coverage everywhere that coverage is possible

Not sure if you can convince Verizon (or anyone else) to activate a new GAIT (dual network) account any more, though. Usage on the TDMA network doesn't allow for the 911 location-tracking features that the GSM network has, and the Feds are requiring 98% compliance on that from the providers, so they don't like TDMA-capable phones...

I now have one of those now as our office got an Enterprise Server. I just hate the e-mails following me around!

I am wondering does anybody have the new Voyager by LG? Because I would like to have a phone like an iPhone just no Apple branding.

I just want a cell PHONE because I want a PHONE. I want to call out and have people call in to me. A novel idea? I have friends that have phone/PDA/iPod with all the bells and whistles and they love them, but I just want a PHONE. The MotoRazr is user friendly (and I use the camera).

EXACTLY!!!

So are the Razr's decent phones now? Maybe I just still have it in my head from when they first originally came out, but it seemed like there were an aweful lot of people having to return or exchange them.
