'93 Ruby Red Conv Price Advice

Looking at the above with 13K miles. The vehicle is spotless. Auto tranny with all original equipment.Owner with all paperwork is asking 26K. Is this a fair market price?

Hi! Welcome to the CAC!

I looked at a '93 Anniversary Edition coupe before I bought my '94 in late 2006. I would recommend you go to the on-line price guides for NADA, Kelley and Edmunds. These will give you a good idea of price ranges in the Atlanta area. I have found NADA to be a bit higher, Edmunds to be a bit lower, and Kelley to be just about in the middle: the 3 bears of car pricing. ;)

Keep in mind that although special editions such as the Anniversary will command premiums, it is still a 15 year old used car and not quite collector status, yet. The CAC has a good Corvette buyer's evaluation form (I think there is a link on the home page) to help you evaluate what may or may not need attention/replacement in the near future.

Just for info, the Ruby I looked at needed some body work (stress crack in the front body panel), tires and weatherstripping, in addition to the usual driver's seat wear. It had about 70k miles (it spent a lot of time in a garage, undriven) and would have needed $2-3,000 in work over the $17,700 the owner was asking to put it in average condition. NADA was the only guide book that said it was worth that much, in this area, in "excellent" condition. I passed.

You are looking at a virtually "new" 15 year old car,and the price I'm guessing is about 60% Msrp.
Cars this old with virtually no miles are inevitably going to appreciate.
There is a small but active market where people are paying almost "whatever the seller wants"simply because they want a new old car and they are extremely hard to find.If you plan on piling on the miles,DON'T BUY IT.There are lots of medium to low mileage cars for a lot less money.
If your serious about putting 1 or 2 thousand miles a year then maybe it's the car for you.
Keep in mind They sold more rubies in 93 than almost any other "special" version of the Corvette built.They were super popular then and still are.
Ten years from now 33k miles STILL PRETTY DESIRABLE.:upthumbs
