Thanks Dennis, yes you are correct cleaning and waxing our cars is better, but my main reason for saying water is hard is ,everytime a car is washed it is wiped down with either a cotton towl or something, or synthetic chamois, this is what i use. And the critical thing here is what you use for drying of your car,all the rubbing onto your paint, how you use it and if you do it 20 to50 times a year,and remember everytime it is washed water gets down into the crevases of the body ,under chrome strips and sit s there and can speed up corrosion. I use a quility synthetic chomois, they are made in holland and are very soft, never leave streaks, are keeped in a plastic container damp so can be used anytime. I posted this dutch chamois in a previos thread in care and detailing but i can not find it regards wayne.

Water can be hard
but isn't that the job of waxes and polishes to put a protective coating over the paint? I realize that all water isn't the same. Some municipalities will add more chlorine, etc. than others, but I would think that washing would be good for the paint. Cleaner is better???? I'd like to hear more about your reason for thinking that water removes the protective finish.
as long as you're sure the blower isn't picking up trash with the air. Thanks for the reply Wayne.
