Default Z Ratio ST10

I put a 3.08 differential in my 75 a few years ago, thinking I'd drop in a Richmond 5 speed one of these days to match it. Well, I found a good deal the other day on a standard ST10 with Z gear ratios so I jumped on it. The 3.42 1st gear will give me a 10.53 overall ratio in 1st, which is fairly close to the 9.76 stock overall ratio in 1st, but just a bit lower, which is good. High gear will be 3.08 versus the stock 3.70 for much better cruising and gas mileage.

The only concern I have is the torque applied to the transmission because most of the gear reduction is now taking place in the transmission. That will apply more torque to the transmission and drive shaft. I spun the center out of a stock clutch with this engine a couple years ago, but have had no problems since going to a Centerforce Stage II. I'm hoping this ST10 will handle the torque. What do you think?

Your question is difficult to answer without knowing the torque output of the engine.

I've never had it dyno'ed.

It is 10.5:1 comp, 362 c.i., CC240H cam/lifter/valve spring/rocker arm kit, Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock 1409 carb, 2.5 inch dual exhaust (no cats).

It's basically put together from parts I had laying around.

1/4 or 1/8 mile time slips???
I don't think you're going to be able to get a definite "yes/no" answer without knowing something about the specs of your engine. There are 327 cid engines that make more torque than some 454's. Gonna have to get some more info or just do the swap and deal with any potential fall out later.
Try to find a dyno shop in your area. $75 should get you some definite answers about your engine.

The Super T-10 will handle that with no problem.
