Car just will not listen

I installed a new Optima battery in hopes that it will not go dead on me again. Now my Key fob doesn't work . I think their's something about this in the owners manual. Is this a real pain?

just hold the lock and unlock buttons down together and you should hear the horn blow when they sync.

You can also program the key fobs through the dic.
