Some time ago I described my El Camino`s unique front end. Well finally some progress has been advanced on it from it`s static state of some 20 years. The front bumper was damaged from a clown turning directly in front of me with no time to come to a complete stop. It required a lot of work to make blemish free again. It`s not completely finished but close. Most of that "SS" trim has been removed a long time ago.

Although I haven't been a fan of that era of El Camino, Wally, I think you could convert me.

Nice work. :beer

Very nice, Wally!

I had a 1971 GMC Sprint years ago and my biggest problem was getting it to hook up decently.

Quite the collection, with all those projects how do you get anything done?
What is the black mid 50's 2 door, Kinda looks like a Buick but doesn't have any ports that I can see.

Thats a much better picture, one of my first cars was a 56 Buick Special vert, sure wish I still had it. I bought it for $200 back in 1966 while still in HS
There is a growing trend among some of the younger crowd to revive those old mid fifty's cars.

Wally,
Great pictures. Your car is one of my all time favorite fuel altereds. There was a Fiat turnkey car for sale in the Auto and RV last spring that really had my heart pumping. Unfortunately my wallet wasn't pumping at the same speed. It was a single carb big block with a pg. It would have been a lot of fun to take to Martin, Milan and down to Muncie.

Have you ever thought about putting the car back together and displaying it at the Autorama?

Well done Wally. That's one of the nicest El Camino's I've ever seen.

Heres your answer Tom, :upthumbs

They have introduced a 'Preservation' award and I got the very first one for cars that were historic in Drag racing and the Detroit Autorama. They chose the gas altered "Walts Puffer II" As it set a world record of 150.00 MPH as the first altered to achieve that speed on Thanksgiving day 1959 in Chester, South Carolina. We Have been showing at NHRA`s request the gas car at the NHRA reunions. The U.S. Nationals and Bowling Green is some of them. The Reath Automotive Altered of RJS is always present too. The two top altereds in the country. I`ll dig a picture out and put it in

50`th Autorama where the Preservation Award was presented to us.
